The Bhongima Dance Theatre group, representing Bangladesh, has been with us since 2022 and during this time has become not only an artistic partner but also a loyal and dear friend of the Festival. This year, we will once again witness the vibrant and energetic performances of the group on our Festival stages. The group was founded in 2005 by Syeda Saila Ahmed Lima – its founder, choreographer, and artistic director – an exceptionally talented and dedicated promoter of her country’s culture.
Bhongima Dance Theatre specializes in a variety of dance forms, skillfully blending elements of contemporary, folk, and classical dance. Regular rehearsals and a continuous commitment to artistic growth have earned the group recognition on the international dance scene.
The artists have had the opportunity to showcase their performances across many corners of the world – including Egypt, Singapore, China, several African countries, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Mauritius, Bhutan, Nepal, and India. Each of their performances is a unique fusion of passion, precision, and deep respect for the cultural heritage of South Asia.
Today, Bhongima Dance Theatre is one of the most recognized and respected dance groups from Bangladesh, consistently raising the quality of their performances and captivating audiences around the globe.
