“Slavey” Folk Song and Dance Ensemble

At our festival there will be another unique guest from the Balkans – Folklore Ensemble “Slavey“! Get ready to witness the spirit, passion, and power of Bulgarian folklore brought to life on stage! Founded in 2017 by acclaimed artists Stefan and Antonia Ivanovi, SLAVEY Folk Song and Dance Ensemble has quickly established itself as one of the brightest rising stars in Bulgaria’s folklore scene. Inspired by their professional experience with the prestigious National Folklore Ensemble “Philip Koutev” and the U.S.-based “Tamburitza” Ensemble, they set out to create an ensemble that honors tradition while embracing artistic innovation.

In its founding year, SLAVEY captivated international audiences at the “Muses” Festival in Sozopol, winning two awards for their original masterpiece “Shopski Games” — an electrifying choreography by Stefan and Antonia Ivanovi set to the legendary music of Kosta Kolev.

With a repertoire deeply rooted in the classics of Bulgarian stage folk dance, yet shining with original artistry and bold interpretations, SLAVEY delivers breathtaking performances that celebrate the richness, beauty, and rhythm of Bulgaria’s cultural heritage. Today, the ensemble proudly boasts a vast repertoire of over 15 original stage choreographies and more than 10 choral arrangements performed by its exceptional choir, showcasing the diversity and depth of Bulgarian folk traditions.

Behind every performance stands a team of renowned professionals and visionaries.

Prepare to be mesmerized by SLAVEY – where tradition meets innovation, and folklore comes alive with passion, precision, and soul!
